CANstruction & Food Drive

AIA West Jersey and the Deptford Mall partner to raise awareness about hunger in the community with Canstruction!
Join us for an exciting, hands-on challenge where creativity meets compassion! Teams will showcase their ingenuity as they design, construct, and unveil awe-inspiring structures built entirely from full cans of food. These impressive sculptures, crafted to the theme "Milestone Moments – One Year Closer to Zero Hunger," will not only captivate the public but also impress our panel of judges.
Build Day takes place on Saturday, May 3rd, in Center Court, where talented teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and students will collaborate to bring their unique designs to life. This year’s event is extra special as we celebrate major milestones—AIA’s 100th anniversary, Deptford Mall’s 50th anniversary, and the South Jersey Food Bank’s 40th anniversary!
All can sculptures will be on display at the Deptford Mall from Saturday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 18th, providing visitors the opportunity to appreciate the creativity and artistry of these amazing designs.
In addition to the Canstruction event, the Deptford Mall is hosting a food drive to support the Food Bank of South Jersey. Shoppers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate at the donation bins located in Center Court.
Canstruction® is a nonprofit organization that hosts annual competitions showcasing structures made entirely out of full cans of food. All of the cans used at Canstruction Pennsauken are donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey, helping to fight hunger in our community.
Don't miss this incredible event that combines art and charity, and helps to make a positive impact on the lives of people in need.
